I just saw this yesterday and checked my inventory.  Found that of 4000 titles, only 1300 were searchable.  Thanks for this post!  I have my email in to Abe and hope they get it fixed soon.  I noticed mine dropped off Nov. 12 and have jumped up and down every day since then anywhere from 1100 to 1800.  The problem is definitely on their end as it shows that all of my books are in the database, just that they aren't able to be searched.  I also am going to request a refund of some of the fees.

Lo and behold...me too!  Listings down to 116.  I couldn't believe it!  So my understanding is that I should refresh my inventory on ABE and also send them an email to let them know?  Thank goodness for all of the watchful AOB eyes Roll Eyes!

ABE seems to be getting things fixed for those users who contact them.  Smiley

We recommend you keep an eye on your inventory .. cheap insurance. And, if it falls again contact ABE immediately.

Not for me. I contacted them last week (Tuesday or Wednesday). Received an email then about forwarding to tech support then nothing. I sent another email yesterday with no response. ABE is just a marginal site at best for me anyway and I only use them about 3 months a year. Usually from November thru January hoping to get some Holiday orders and then drop them when sales fall off. Looks like I'll be dropping them early this year.

I have contacted them...three times...refreshed...and still only 200 listings available.

They keep putting me off with a "we're looking into it" and they have flat out refused to refund any of my fees.

I am not happy  Angry

This is the message I got today....

Our Technical department is currently investigating the issue and we should have it resolved shortly. I will send the information to the Technical department and have them re-index your listings in our database, that will restore them to the search engine. Because of this issue you were already charged less than your regular monthly fee for December. The average number of books online for your account was less than 501 last month so the fee was automatically reduced.

After my AOB refresh it shows a -572 books.....is it possible to have a negative number??  Undecided

I will wait a few days to see what happens.  Oh, and mine all fell off on November 11/12 as well......

I have canceled my account with Abe.  I really looked hard at the numbers and they just aren't worth it for me.  This incident spurred me to take a much needed look at each site.  I knew it had to be done but I kept putting it off.

I am keeping Alibris.  I make enough of a profit there to justify keeping them even after they raise the fees.

I just got an email saying they reindexed my account. I went from 275 to 277. I asked them where the other 1000+ are. I guess it's better than the 6 I had for two days last week. I emailed them after I got that email and told them to cancel my account too. I agree that ABE just isn't worth it.

I sent an email to them on Monday and they finally got my inventory back up overnight Tue/Wed.  Now I want a discount for my service fee for that month that 2/3 of my inventory was missing.

What really gets me here is that there isn't even any notice on Abe's site that there is  problems with seller inventory not showing.  This is a major screw-up on the part of Abe and it lasted for at least 23 days.  I see there was maintenance going on the evening before this glitch occurred.  ....and they still don't seem to be handling this very well!

I wonder how many other sellers have inventory not showing that didn't come across this thread that are scratching their heads wondering why their Abe sales have tanked?  I put in a request  for the difference in seller fees I was overcharged but haven't heard anything.... maybe they're trying to figure who to point their finger at!   Angry

I had sent them a final email yesterday saying that I was very frustrated, my sales weren't high enough to keep them, my inventory still wasn't showing, CLOSE MY ACCOUNT.

I received back an email stating that all 10,000+ of my listings were now searchable.  But no reference to my request for closure.

Nothing today either.

I bet they are hoping I will change my mind now that my inventory is back up. 

Since my decision was based on more than this one incident...I am not going to change my mind!

I lost 2200 listings on Nov. 12th and it continued until this week.  I wrote them and asked for a credit for my listings that weren't showing up.  They replied that even though it didn't show that they were searchable to me they really were searchable so they were not refunding my fees.

I get quite a few sales from them, even with the glitch, so for now I will keep them and look at them closely after the new year.

It just happened to my inventory again over the weekend .. inventory has been reduced by more than 50%. Email has been sent asking them to fix it .. again.

Yep, just checked and my listings are down to 220 when there should be over 4,600.  I sent a semi-polite email to abebooks stating that this is the THIRD time in two months that this has happened and I would appreciate an expeditious fix put in place as this is seriously affecting my store's viability on the abebooks platform and I may have to consider cancelling my seller account with them.

I do alright business with them lately, but I'm not going to shell out $42 bucks a month to have my books NOT listed through them!!!

(rant over.....for now...)

I just checked my Abe listings and my inventory is correct, if you want to get something resolved quickly instead of days, use this phone number:

Telephone Support (For Booksellers Only) : 1-800-315-5335  (Monday to Friday, 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. PT)

This got the same inventory issue back in November/December resolved with my account immediately, I know some of you guys waited awhile with online support.  They also corrected the billing for that month, 10,000 of my listings were dropped and they billed me for the 8,000 that were showing.  I had to tell them to correct the billing, they didn't do it voluntarily.
