A Book is a Present You Can Open Again and Again

This is more of a Mac Tech problem than an AOB problem, but it affects my usage of AOB greatly! I'm hoping some Mac techie-type person might stop by this forum and can help me out!

I seem to have a problem with my system Helvetica font. AOB uses Helvetica for the site font, and for the past 3 days all the type I see on AOB is bitmapped. Parts of the site are barely legible. While trying to figure out what was wrong, I discovered my Helvetica.t1 font file sitting on my desktop. I certainly didn't put it there intentionally, but maybe it got accidentally dragged there when I was doing some housecleaning on my hard drive. That still seems rather odd, because I wasn't in my font folder. So I'm not really sure how it ended up there.

Anyway, I dragged it back into my System Font Folder, and I still have bitmapped screens. I tried "installing" it with both Font Book and Suitcase. I also tried putting a couple of my regular Helvetica fonts and their suitcase in the System Font Folder, just to see if that would work. It didn't.

I'm using Firefox 2.0 as a browser. I tried installing the Camino browser (1.0.3) to see if that would help, but had the same problem. The screens display okay in Safari, but I think there is some font substitution going on because it's not Helvetica that's displaying. I also have Explorer 5.2 for the Mac, and the font displays okay there as well, but because that browser is out of date I have other, unrelated issues using it.

Firefox or Camino are my browsers of choice. Can SOMEONE please help me get my Helvetica back? Thanks in advance...

I think you need to re install your fonts.
Yes, there have been a font substitution happen in your system.
Basically the system doesn't detect the default font so the system uses the font that is next to the the defaut.

Please look at the dates of the posts you are responding to. I posted this message 2 1/2 years ago. Needless to say, the problem is solved!
