Just Made the Chrislands plunge
Apr 22nd, 2006 at 2:45am

Well, I finally did set up a Chrislands store this week. Pretty easy to set up.

I used browse paths I use for Amazon to set them up there, which made them look like Nonfiction:Art, Architecture & Design. Didn't like that so much, so I created a custom navigation on the left (or at least a partial one, didn't finish yet). It's still a work in progress, but I'm getting there.

I'd appreciate any input from others!

Valerie, what a great site. I love all your inspirational messages about books. You did a really good job. I had been wondering about the Chrislands websites, and how they looked. Best of luck and keep us updated on the success of your site and your sales on Chrislands.

Thanks! I'm still working on it, but at least I got it fuctional, and somewhat the way I want it. I'm working on adding a discussion board right now, so I probably won't do any more tweaking to the actual site until I get it done. It's been a lot of learning...Chrislands is actaully easy to set up, but I'm doing a lot of customizing, so I've had to do a refresher on HTML.

Just wondering how the plunge went!  I'm thinking of signing on as well.

I haven't made any sales from it yet, but I'm starting to get hits on it now (takes a little while for the search engines to find you), and I had someone use the offline want request, to see if I had a particular book. I just put together a discussion board for people to discuss books, too. It's just starting to get a few hits, but no one has posted anything yet.

Be patient Valerie,

It took years before our web site was making significant money....   but it is worth it.
Keep plugging away. Promote, promote promote!!!

Every book you ship should include a note to check out your web site..  Check into
Google Adwords... kinda expensive, but it works.

Thanks for the tips! I've added my website to all my packing slips and emails now. I sell at a Farmers Market on the weekend, and I've got signs, and flyers there now, too. Each day, I'm seeing more & more hits on it, so that's good. On my ebay ME page I put a link to it as well.

I may try the Google Adworks down the line, butI have to get more things listed, so I can start selling some more! Still working on the script for ebay on AoB, but I'm going to start putting the other things I sell in it, so at least it will be back up & running!
Thanks
Valarie
